Retaining Walls
Retaining walls are our speciality. When done right, they solve drainage problems, reclaim unusable slopes, and completely transform a property. Done wrong, they bulge, lean, and fail within a few seasons. We've built our reputation on walls that don't fail.
Every Whitters retaining wall starts with proper excavation, compacted base, and engineered drainage — the stuff no one sees but everyone feels in year ten. We build segmental block walls, natural stone walls, and large-scale engineered walls for commercial sites and steep residential lots.

Engineered walls to spec
-
1. Site assessment. We evaluate the slope, soil, drainage, and load conditions. For larger or engineered walls, we'll coordinate with a structural engineer so the design matches the site — not the other way around.
2. Design and material selection. We help you choose a wall system that fits the job and the look you're going for, from segmental block to natural stone to large engineered systems.
3. Excavation and base prep. This is the step most failed walls skip. We over-excavate, install a proper compacted base, and set the foundation course dead level.
4. Build and drain. We build the wall course by course, installing drainage stone, drain tile, and geo-grid reinforcement where the design calls for it.
5. Backfill and finish. We backfill in lifts, compact as we go, and finish the top and surrounding area clean. You get a wall that looks sharp on day one and still looks sharp in year twenty.
